Our Business

Every year, humans consume 75 percent more resources than the planet is able regenerate. On top of this the textile industry is one of worst offenders when it comes to climate, environment and ethical trade.  Fortunately, the need for more better sustainable solutions are a top priority for many companies and brands today.

NORTHWOOL creates circular and climate neutral clothing collections for the B2B market, with the same design and quality requirements as if they were to be sold in high-end stores.

We aim to be a sustainability leader within our category and would prefer our clients to share the same ambition in theirs.

Sustainability promise

Our ultimate goal is to make high quality & functional clothes that cause no harm to people & planet. This is of course an almost impossible task, as all production impact the environment some way or the other, but it will not stop us from trying. We will never compromise our quest to find better alternatives for human and nature. Ever.

Made by nature

All our products are made from natural materials such as environmentally certified merino wool, organic cotton or supima cotton. The seams are, with one exception, sewn with tencel thread, which is a material made of wood. Hence, when they in a distant future have served their purpose, they can go back into nature’s own cycle.

Merino wool

A fibre from the land, produced by the simple mix of fresh air, sunshine, grass and water, merino wool is lovingly cultivated by generations of wool growers mainly in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Tasmania, who nurture every step of the growing process to deliver one of the earth’s finest and most precious fibres.

A wool fibre is composed of a natural protein called keratin that is biodegradable, similar to the protein found in human hair. When disposed of, Merino wool decomposes in soil in a matter of years, slowly releasing valuable nitrogen-based nutrients back into the earth, acting like a fertilizer. In contrast, synthetic fibres can be extremely slow to degrade.

EU Production

Our supply chain, the materials are sourced and the products manufactured through a carefully selected network of suppliers located around the world but mostly in the EU, many of which have worked with us for 20 yrs.

We focus on working with near by EU suppliers to secure control of our production. For us focus is key in every part of the developments, every step from selecting products, compositions, yarn process and last but not least, short shipping distance.

The smaller things when putting a product to life like thread, is not a smaller thing in a circular world, our sustainable choice is Tencel thread (Lenzing AG).

One big issue for our brand was to find best choice for dying and washing our products, something we found with our Polish partner (Zakład Włókienniczy BILIŃSKI spółka jawna).
